$200,000 gift aims to keep Great Falls, Montana high school students close to home with scholarships to The University of Great Falls

The University of Great Falls http://www.ugf.edu/ is positioned to get more students into college thanks to a $200,000 donation from area businesses.

In these times of economic uncertainty, UGF President Eugene McAllister said a gift like this to create between 50 to 80 scholarships for local high school students is amazing.

"This affirms that we are Great Falls’ university," McAllister said. "It’s wonderful that we and the community are swimming against the tides."

The scholarship, dubbed "Great for Great Falls … and Montana," moves beyond the typical requirements of a scholarship. It will be distributed to area high school students and Montana State University-Great Falls College of Technology graduates at a rate of approximately $1,000 to $1,500 each year over a four-year period.
