Teacher shortage looms, but not in Wyoming

As many as half of all teachers in the United States could retire within the next decade, but education officials in Wyoming aren’t worried about a teacher shortage here.

A new report by the National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future finds that 53 percent of teachers nationwide are baby boomers. Most people in that population will reach retirement age in 10 years.

In Wyoming, education professionals say health insurance, relatively high pay and a love of teaching are all helping to keep teachers in the classroom.
