A Home Where the Buffalo Roam – The C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana

The C.M. Russell Museum http://www.cmrussell.org/ has long been reason enough to justify a detour to this otherwise desolate Northern Plains outpost. The museum’s primary focus is the Western-themed paintings and sculptures of Charles M. Russell, a St. Louis transplant who came here in the 1880s to wrangle cattle but ended up wrangling his way into the pantheon of highly accomplished frontier artists, alongside George Catlin and Frederick Remington. Simple scenes, such as "Puncher Roping a Steer" and "Wakeup Time" capture early life here well.

Welcome to the C.M. Russell Museum http://www.cmrussell.org/ : a place where the old West is still alive. Artist Charles M. Russell captured the landscapes, the spirit, and the culture of the West during the late 1800s and early 1900s. His artwork is part entertainment, part history lesson. We encourage you to explore our site and discover for yourself the life and times of C.M. Russell, and the legacy of art he left behind.
