Montana Meth Project should get funding – Montana teens rally for cause

We’ve all seen the ads.

You know, those graphic, gruesome, only-look-at-once ads by the Montana Meth Project http://www.montanameth.org/ on television, billboards and in newspapers warning teens — and all of us — to never use meth, “not even once.”

But something we haven’t yet seen, until today, is the abundance of youth support behind this advertising campaign, which, among other efforts, has been hugely responsible for putting a big dent in methamphetamine use among teens across Montana.

Nearly 2,300 teens and Meth Project supporters marched to the Capitol on Monday, demonstrating the overwhelming support by the very group that has been targeted by this campaign to increase state Meth Project funding from its current $500,000 per year to $1 million per year. The increase in funding would be used to expand the project’s scope, targeting Internet sites as well as securing more federal match grants.

Teens from communities throughout Montana gather on the steps of the Capitol for the first

HELENA — A sea of reddish-orange and blue descended upon the Capitol Monday as more than 2,300 students from across the state marched to send a message to Montana lawmakers to increase funding for the Montana Meth Project.

The energy was electric as the massive crowd made its way down side streets from Helena High School to the Capitol holding signs, wearing Montana Meth Project apparel and screaming as the Montana National’s Guard helicopters escorted them overheard.
