Missoula, Montana’s Loyola Sacred Heart High School speech and debate team wins 26th state title in a row

The streak lives on.

Loyola Sacred Heart High School’s http://www.missoulacatholicschools.org/loyolahs/ speech and debate team won its 26th straight state B-C championship over the weekend at Huntley Project.

“We didn’t start with great teams,” said coach Matt Stergios, who took over the team in 1981. “But we built the program and now it’s something that people want to be part of. The expectation is that we’re going to have a great team and we’re going to win.”

Well, expectation fulfilled. Loyola won seven of the nine events, and placed in all of them. That wraps up a speech and debate season that started in October and featured nine meets around the state.
