The number one bank in the nation is right here in Montana, according to a recent publication. "The Top 150 Performers" says Glacier Bancorp Incorporated http://www.glacierbancorp.com/index.html based in Kalispell is at the top of the list, with $5.2 billion in second-quarter 2008 assets.

The publication says while some of the country’s best-known depository financial institutions have teetered on the brink of collapsing, "steady at the helm" describes the highest-ranked banks with Glacier Bancorp above the rest.
