Big Sky Airlines to fly from Boise

New service will take you nonstop to Billings, Mont.

Another city has been added to Boise Airport´s growing list of nonstop flight
destinations.

Big Sky Airlines, a regional airline based in Billings, Mont., will begin
service between Boise and its home base on May 5.

The new flights are designed to accommodate growing demand for
same-day business travel between the two cities and a number of
possible connecting flights, according to Big Sky spokeswoman Bria
Hansen.

Big Sky worked with the Idaho Department of Commerce and a
consulting firm hired by the department to determine demand for
same-day business flights.

Big Sky´s own analysis confirmed the routes had potential.

“That´s how most of our schedules are set up,” Hansen said.

Big Sky will operate two nonstop round trips, Monday through Friday,
using 19-passenger Fairchild Metro turboprop airplanes.

In Billings, the flights will provide connecting Big Sky service to and
from 10 Montana communities.

Code-sharing agreements with Horizon Airlines and America West
Airlines will allow Big Sky to sell tickets to those airlines´ destinations
out of Boise.

Big Sky will contract with another carrier to provide ticketing and
maintenance services in Boise. No Big Sky personnel will be stationed
in Boise.

Big Sky refused to comment on which carriers it is negotiating with for
those services.

However, Horizon Air spokeswoman Cheryl Temple confirmed her
employer has had discussions with Big Sky, but that no agreements
had been reached.

Big Sky is the third regional airline to announce new service to Boise
in the past six weeks.

Horizon will add San Diego and San Francisco to its flight plans April
1, and Denver on April 28. Horizon started non-stop service to
Sacramento last month.

Earlier this month, American Eagle Airlines, a regional affiliate of
American Airlines, announced it will start direct flights between Boise
and Dallas — using a 70-seat regional jet — May 15.

When Big Sky´s service begins, Boise will be the 27th city served by
Big Sky, a publicly held company with its stock traded on the Pacific
Stock exchanges.
