Group aims to build solar plant in the Flathead Valley. Meeting planned for Jan 22 for anyone interested in participating.

The MDT Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program encourages and supports the participation of companies owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in transportation contracts.

A dozen local business-minded partners are planning to build a thin-film photovoltaic solar cell manufacturing facility in the Flathead Valley.

They’re holding a public meeting tonight (Jan. 22) to explain the concept and to gauge the interest in forming a community-owned private-sector company.

Anyone interested in more information or investment opportunities is invited to the meeting at 6 p.m. at 201 Second St. in Whitefish.
