Craig, Montana resort tax headed to voters

For six months of the year, Craig http://www.travelmt.com/mt-cities-Craig.html is home to 40 some residents. For the other six, the town along the Missouri River is flooded by thousands of eager anglers.

Voters there will soon decide whether to tax those tourists to help pay for infrastructure improvements, including an expensive sewer lines and wastewater treatment plant.

"We’re just trying to get it so the tourists are paying their share," said Pat Hunter, who co-owns Izaak’s restaurant and has been working to get a resort tax in place for five years. "They’re loving our poor little system to death. It’s hard on everyone there."
