Geoff Feiss Appointed to National Telecom Board of Directors

Geoff Feiss, General Manager of the Montana Telecommunications Association http://www.telecomassn.org (MTA), headquartered in Helena, MT, was appointed by Kevin Martin, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), to the Board of Directors of the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC).

USAC is an independent, not-for-profit corporation designated by the FCC as the administrator of the federal Universal Service Fund. USAC administers Universal Service Fund (USF) programs for high cost companies serving rural areas, low-income consumers, rural health care providers, and schools and libraries. The Universal Service Fund helps provide communities across the country with affordable telecommunications services. USF support is an integral component in maintaining investment in telecom infrastructure in Montana and rural areas throughout the nation.

USAC’s board of directors comprises 19 directors representing the telecommunications and information services industry, state telecommunications regulators, state consumer advocates, low-income consumers, the education and library community, and the USAC CEO. Feiss will represent rural telecom providers with annual operating revenues of less than $40 million, and will serve on USAC’s High Cost and Low Income Committee.

MTA represents both shareholder-owned commercial, and member-owned cooperative rural telecommunications service providers serving residential and business consumers in Montana with advanced voice, data and video services.
