Montana University officials seek cut of federal stimulus proposal

When it comes to Gov. Brian Schweitzer’s $3.1 billion list of “shovel ready” projects http://matr.net/article-32335.html submitted to the new presidential administration as ways to help kick-start the economy, Montana’s universities and colleges didn’t quite make the cut.
There was a request of $4 million for scholarships to assist students interested in attending an in-state community college. Yet, the university’s list of “shovel ready” infrastructure projects is long and growing.
It’s another example of tight times.
