Montana Governorn Schweitzer Asks for More Information on Montana Meth Project Study

Governor Brian Schweitzer has asked the author of a study on the Montana Meth Project http://www.montanameth.org/ to come to Montana and meet with both he and the legislature about the studies findings.

“The taxpayers of this state have made substantial investments in this program,” said Governor Schweitzer. “There is money again in my budget this time, I believe it is our obligation to look at all sides of the issue, evaluate and look for ways we can improve.”

Meth study author declines invite

Australian student cites commitments, costs of travel

The author of a study critical of the Meth Project said Saturday that it is unlikely he will be able to accept the Montana governor’s request to discuss his results with lawmakers.

David Erceg-Hurn, a doctoral student in psychology at the University of Western Australia, said he found Gov. Brian Schweitzer’s interest encouraging, but said he has prior commitments over the next two months. He also cited a lack of funding for a trip to Montana.
