New doctor and his family enjoying life in Lewistown, Montana

The walls of Dr. Michael Sura’s private office seemed to bulge with exuberance as his young family entered the small room. Winter coats and woolen hats were stripped away, and then the three boys made a quick beeline for their father’s desk. Within moments they’d plundered its top drawer, pulling out pads of paper and fistfuls of colored markers. Soon Michael, Travis and Andrew settled in to their respective art projects, their markers squeaking as they scraped across the writing tablets. Eight-month-old Molly gurgled contentedly in Jamie Sura’s arms.

“We’ve been through a lot of big changes in the past few months,” Dr. Sura said matter-of-factly. “The birth of Molly, moving and finishing residency, starting a practice, building a new house in a new town. Things are kind of settling down a little bit for us now. We’re making it through.”

Sura, his wife, Jamie, and their four children moved to town to start a new family medical practice “Spring Creek Family Medicine“ last July. Sura received his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno and had just completed a three-year family medicine residency program in Billings. Finding the right community for their children was an important reason why the Suras chose Lewistown.
