Entrepreneurs: Old business keeps up with technology in Red Lodge, Montana – Flash’s Photography

Flash’s was founded in Red Lodge in 1932 by Forrest Flashman, who bought out the existing Lewis Studio. He did a brisk business selling handmade black-and-white scenic postcards of the Beartooth Highway, when the road was still under construction.

Kathrine Psenda purchased the studio in 1938, after starting her own photographic career as a 16-year-old in 1922. She ran the shop for many years with her husband, Bernt Egenes, whose son Thomas Egenes runs it now.
