Montana Meth Project pressing for more funding

Angling for another round of funding from the Legislature, supporters of the Montana Meth Project http://www.montanameth.org/ have been collecting signatures around the state and have plans for a march on the Capitol by high school students from around the state in February.

The 4-year-old effort to stem methamphetamine use received $2 million from the 2007 Legislature and is hoping for a similar amount from the state this spring. For more than a month, backers have been collecting signatures on a “statement of support” that they plan to present to the Legislature.

“We’re trying to show these state legislators that there is support for this, and that this project has made all the difference in this state,” said Peg Shea, the project’s executive director.
