We Care: The Child Development Center helps children with developmental issues

The Child Development Center http://www.childdevcenter.org/ is a private, nonprofit agency providing services throughout the seven counties of western Montana to families with children who are either at risk for a developmental delay or have a diagnosed developmental disability.

CDC’s services are provided by trained professionals who hold degrees in child development, special education, social work, pediatric therapy or a related field. CDC also has a consulting medical director.

CDC services are voluntary and at no cost to families. The services provided include: developmental evaluation of children premature birth through 5; home-based intervention for children birth to 22, with an emphasis on parent education: expanded support services, to include a Medicaid waiver for children birth to 22 with intensive needs; a three-year Medicaid waiver for children birth to 5 with an autism spectrum disorder; limited respite-care program, and respite house for scheduled care.

Editor’s note: This holiday season, the Missoulian will again publish a daily We Care column, telling the stories of people in need and how others can help them. If your agency has clients with needs this holiday season, call 523-5240 to be included. To read all of this season’s We Care columns, go to http://www.Missoulian.com.
