Wyoming officials seek ways to make city more attractive to 20-somethings

"We can’t keep doing the same thing and expect something different. There’s no such thing as keeping the status quo."

A vision for the future is coming into focus: A more walkable city with expanded public transportation, and some mixed-use development along major streets with retail shops and second-floor apartments.

Of course, if a big-box retail store wants to move in at the site of the closed Studio 28 movie theater, all that’s out the window.

"If Super Wal-Mart comes, yeah, we’re probably going to grab it," said Chris Weller, city planning commissioner. "With the economy the way it is, what can you do? It’s going to be tough."
