Montana Tech international students adjust to life in Mining City (Butte, Montana)

Mohammed AlHusseini still remembers his first impression of Butte as the airplane landed.

The Saudi Arabian man was coming to study petroleum engineering at Montana Tech and had never been in the United States. Instead of a large city, he was more than a little surprised at the sight of the Mining City.

"I was shocked when I saw how small this area is," AlHusseini, a senior, said recently. "I called my adviser and said ‘why did you send me here?’" But three years and nearly a degree earned later, AlHusseini said he’s glad he came to Tech. The city life may not have been here, but he’s grown fond of the college, of Butte and of Montana.
