TechRanch – Montana’s ‘SWAT team for development’

It’s somewhat ironic that at about the time the technology bubble burst and scores of dot.coms were becoming dot bombs, business leaders in Montana were brainstorming ways to attract Internet-based companies to the state.
But back in 2000, that was one of the motivations behind the creation of what is now Tech Ranch http://www.techranch.org/ in Bozeman. Today the privately run, nonprofit organization has fostered about 100 startup technology-based businesses through a variety of services, from housing in its business incubator-style facility to introductions to venture capitalists willing to make investments.
