Duties:

The position serves as the special projects coordinator for the Agriculture Marketing and Business Development Bureau (AMBD), working with other AMBD staff members to achieve bureau and program goals. The position is principally responsible for a variety of marketing and trade activities to promote and sustain individual agri-businesses as well as the statewide agricultural industry. Specific responsibilities include: develops strategic plans for domestic trade and directs agri-business trade shows, plans and directs the delivery of statewide business development workshops, develops strategic plans for domestic and international trade, provides expert consultation and marketing assistance to Montana agri-businesses, recruits new business for establishment or relocation in Montana, and develops marketing campaigns to promote Montana agricultural products. The position is also responsible for assessing the on-going effectiveness of all program activities and administers program budgets as well as various service contracts.

Competencies:

The successful candidate must have thorough knowledge of the concepts and theories of business administration, marketing, and domestic as well as international trade and trade agreements. The position requires knowledge of economic issues related to agriculture. Knowledge of budgeting, legislative processes, strategic marketing and planning practices and statistical demographics and analysis is also critical to the success of this position.

Further, the position requires solid skills in budgeting and program managment as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate must be able to apply advanced research methods and techniques and to explain technical and legal concepts to a variety of audiences.
