Private donors lending Glacier a hand
| November 3, 2008 |
A group that raises private dollars for Glacier National Park operations will provide park managers with more than $200,000 in 2009.
The Glacier National Park Fund http://www.glacierfund.org/ usually limits its giving to the “frosting on the cake” - those programs or projects that are considered above and beyond core park services. But this year, private donors have bitten off some of the cake, too, and even some of the main course.
“We want people to have a great experience when they visit Glacier,” said GNPF executive director Jane Ratzlaff. “If the government can't provide that experience with the limited money Congress makes available, then we have to step up.”
