Montana SBDC Network Announces Selection of Deanna Johnson for 2008 SBDC State Star

Ann Desch, State Small Business Development Center Director for Montana, announced that Deanna Johnson has been selected as the 2008 State Star of the Montana SBDC Network. Deanna Johnson is SBDC Director at the Headwaters RC&D Area, Inc. small business development center located in Butte.

“I am pleased to make this announcement, and to recognize Deanna Johnson for extraordinary contributions to the work of the Montana SBDC and small business in Montana,” said Ann Desch, State Director.

“Montana is a small business state,” said Andy Poole, Deputy Director of the Montana Department of Commerce. “I applaud Deanna Johnson for her hard work and dedication to Montana’s small businesses.”

Deanna was chosen for being an exemplary performer, making a significant contribution to the Montana SBDC program, and showing a strong commitment to small business in the seven county region served by Headwaters.

“It is an honor to accept this award and to have the opportunity to help so many people achieve the dream of starting and succeeding in their own business,” said Deanna.

Deanna is one of ten business advisors across the state that provide free and confidential business counseling because of a federal, state and local partnership between the Small Business Administration (SBA), the Montana Department of Commerce, and local economic development organizations. For 2008, the SBDC network provided counseling and training to more than 3,300 individuals.

America’s Small Business Development Center (ASBDC) Network is a partnership uniting private enterprise, government, higher education and local nonprofit economic development organizations. It is the Small Business Administration’s largest partnership program, providing management and technical assistance to help Americans start, run and grow their own businesses. With about 1,000 centers across the nation, America’s SBDC network provided business consulting to approximately 200,000 clients, training for more than 400,000 attendees, and other forms of management and technical assistance to approximately 600,000 small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs last year.
