Consortium for Educational Advancement-The New Tech Prep in Montana Students
| October 6, 2008 |
The CEA/Tech Prep Consortium is in the process of developing programs of study (Big Sky Pathways), to be used statewide that begins in high school, continues at a post-secondary institution and culminates in an associate degree, certificate, apprenticeship or further postsecondary study in a career field within a variety of career interest areas. Tech Prep credits are earned through a process of articulation.
Articulation is a cooperative effort between Montana's high schools, linking them with certificate, diploma and associate degree programs. This process of articulation enables students to receive postsecondary credit for skills mastered in high school. To be eligible for Tech Prep credits, a student must earn a "B" or better in an articulated class; enroll in a participating two-year college within two years of high school graduation, and earn at least 12 credits at the participating two-year college while enrolled.
Educators who would prefer to continue existing articulation agreements in their regions pending the new Pathways from Peaks to Plains: The Big Sky East-West Consortium for Educational Advancement (CEA/Tech Prep) please review these guidelines.
