Program Introduces Junior High Girls in Montana to Technology Careers

Sixteen young women from junior high schools across Montana participated in the first ever high tech girls manufacturing institute this summer, directed by Jim Weber, Industrial Technology teacher at Helena Capital High. The intent of the program is to encourage young women to consider careers in technology (i.e.: welding, CAD/CAM, CNC machining, manufacturing and engineering) fields.
The incoming high school freshmen, selected from a pool of 49 applicants, attended the week-long camp that focused on hands-on application of technology.
