10 tech developments headed for the mainstream

People put out personal data every time they click on a website, change the TV channel, shop, or talk on the phone. In his new book, "The Numerati," author Steve Baker explores the ways mathematicians and computer scientists are using this information to predict — and possibly manipulate — consumer behavior.
Baker will offer up his views Wednesday as a speaker at MIT's Emerging Technologies Conference. While he's in town, we asked him to predict 10 technological developments that will hit the mainstream. Here they are, in no particular order.
