Climate change minor proposed at the University of Montana

Faculty at the University of Montana are in the process of submitting a proposal for a new undergraduate Climate Change Studies minor that would make UM only the second school in the United States to offer such a program.

Following George Dennison’s signing of the American Colleges and Universities Presidents’ Climate Commitment in April 2007, and increased campus interest and involvement, Provost Royce Engstrom asked faculty last December to create a task force exploring the possibility of an interdisciplinary undergraduate program centered on the issue of climate change.
At present, the University of Michigan is the only university in the country offering such a program.
