Here’s a good read: Amazon hiring by hundreds
| September 7, 2008 |
Even as the global economy weakens and unemployment rises, Amazon.com Inc. http://www.amazon.com is hiring by the hundreds.
In the past year, Amazon added 4,000 jobs worldwide. The Seattle technology firm employs 18,400 people, an 80 percent increase since 2005. When Amazon.com was launched in 1995, it had five employees, including founder Jeff Bezos, according to author Robert Spector in ‘‘Amazon.com: Get Big Fast.’’
Many of the new jobs are in Seattle, though the company does not break down its employment by region. On Amazon’s job board, about 500 postings are listed for the Seattle region.
