Getting Advice, From a Board or Otherwise

For some small-business owners, the idea of having a trusted set of outside advisers is as integral as the business plan. Others recognize the need for outside advice only much later.
How formal that relationship has to be, and what kind of people entrepreneurs should be calling on for help, is the subject of the discussion here.
