Success in growing algae for use as source of biofuel at a test facility in Hamilton has helped a company launch a $141 million effort to build a commercial algae-growing facility in Missouri.
Green Star http://www.greenstarusa.com/index.html President Joseph LaStella said the Saline County Commission has approved the issuance of industrial development revenue bonds to finance the commercial algae production facility and an associated biorefinery.
LaStella perfected the process to produce biofuel from fast growing algae at a Hamilton test facility starting in 2007.
