Washington utility nixes power purchase from coal-fired plant in Montana

A central Washington public utility has decided not to buy power from the coal-fired Highwood Generating Station proposed eight miles east of Great Falls, its board members announced earlier this week. Advertisement
Spokeswoman Rita Bjork said Thursday that the Grant County Public Utility District told the plant's developer, Southern Montana Electric Generation & Transmission Cooperative, "in late June that we were not interested."
