Tony Rudbach remembered as 'visionary'
| August 25, 2008 |
Tony Rudbach would have enjoyed his memorial service.
In the backyard of his daughter's Missoula home, his grandchildren, scientists, researchers, government officials, friends and family gathered to share stories, eat bratwurst and hear members of the Missoula City Band tuba their way through the classics.
“Edelweiss” and “America the Beautiful” were just some of the numbers that boomed in the background during the picnic-like send-off for Rudbach, a dedicated family man, brilliant scientist and cherished friend.
There were no formal comments at the casual service, no reason for the University of Montana associate vice president for research and development to squirm in the unexpected spotlight.
