Deerlodge, Montana biogas plant under consideration
| August 23, 2008 |
The potential for building a biogas production plant in Deer Lodge is being considered.
Recently, officials with MWK Biogas, a German engineering company, met in Deer Lodge with representatives of Montana’s CTW Energy of Bozeman, Montana Correctional Enterprises and Mayor Mary Ann Fraley to discuss the idea.
The proposed plant would use manure and food waste from the prison, as well as other waste materials to generate electricity and heat to grow algae for oil production, and to purify the city’s wastewater.
