MAEDC asks the State for help as Montana's wood products industry struggles

Montana's wood products industry is having hard times this year. Poor markets, a mortgage lending crisis, and a continuing struggle to find raw material.
One week ago Missoula's economic development corporation asked state leaders to help, and the state responded.
The report by the Missoula Area Economic Development Corporation http://www.maedc.org addresses both short and long-term needs. Some have to do with the supply of logs for lumber and other materials for chips. But many address other issues facing the industry. And now the report has the attention of the governor's top economic development official.
