Silicon Slopes Initiative Aims to Make Utah the Next Silicon Valley

Most people have heard of Silicon Valley and many have heard of Silicon Alley and Silicon Forrest. But what about Silicon Slopes? Silicon Slopes is an initiative, started and funded largely by Orem-based Omniture, to bring attention to Utah’s high tech innovations and companies. The Beehive State is, after all, home to the first television, artificial heart and electronic hearing aid, among other innovations. The state is also where companies like WordPerfect and Novell got their start.
And the tradition continues today, with companies like Omniture, Move Networks, IM Flash and Symantec calling Utah home. According to Brett Error, CTO and executive vice president of products at Omniture, it’s time Utah’s reputation grows from having the “greatest snow on earth” to becoming Silicon Slopes.
