Latest firm to focus on genetic research
Accelerator Corp., the Seattle-based biotech incubator, will launch its ninth company Friday, in the ultimate hope of developing treatments that can effectively regulate the expression of genes and therefore prevent illness.
For the Accelerator, the launch of Mirina Corp. marks a milestone, coinciding roughly with the incubator's fifth anniversary. Established in 2003 to help researchers turn early-stage concepts into businesses by providing funds, lab space and management expertise, the Accelerator has since become a fixture on Seattle's biotech scene.
