Candy’s Colorland – Plastic playhouses a hit for Cascade, Montana entrepreneur

Ten years ago, Candy Maxwell turned cardboard into a board game she called "Wicketts." She invested $3,000 to take it to a toy broker in Minneapolis.

She was prepared to explain all of the intricacies of her game but the broker wanted to know only thing. What made her game better than any other?

"Well," she responded, "it’s fun to play."

"Does it need directions?" he asked. "People don’t want to read directions."

"I was thinking, ‘I came all this way for this, just to be shot down?’ " recalled Maxwell.

Not ready to give up, Maxwell shifted gears and told the broker, "I also designed a playhouse."

Today she manufactures and markets Candy’s Colorland http://www.AaladinsCCL.com products from her Cascade home. The products are made of lightweight plastic, which can be colored on and then erased.
