Tobacco fund could help get ideas from scientists in Washington State to market

6 Life Sciences grants go to scientists
The group that has the task of doling out $350 million in tobacco settlement money to boost research in Washington is considering allocating some money to help scientists commercialize their discoveries, the executive director of the fund said Tuesday.
Lee Huntsman spoke in an interview shortly after the Life Sciences Discovery Fund made its second outlay of the year, distributing $5.2 million to support six investigator-sponsored studies at the University of Washington and Washington State University.
