Wilderness charm part of Eureka, Montana

It's just a wisp of a town, the first major settlement you hit when you cross the U.S. border into Montana along Highway 93.
And by the looks of it, it isn't about to change much, either.
Eureka http://www.welcome2eureka.com/ had a population of just 1,012 people in 2000; that went up to 1,017 by 2001; and was 1,028 in 2005, the latest figures available on a web search.
Chances are, it hasn't grown much since then.
But that's a big part of the charm of this little spot in the untamed wilderness of northern Montana.
The tiny settlement is part of Tobacco Valley, named for the First Nations people who grew tobacco there many years ago because of its mild climate.
In fact, it's known as the banana belt of Montana, with the mildest weather in the state.
