Millions in private funds builds Montana State University bioscience facility
| July 31, 2008 |
Ranchers, farmers and agribusinesses have raised the lion’s share of $12.5 million to construct a new bioscience teaching building at Montana State University’s mother campus in Bozeman.
“This is the first time in the history of Montana State University that ranchers, farmers and agricultural businesses have done anything like this,” said Billings farm broadcaster Taylor Brown, an MSU graduate who chairs the development committee that organized the funding campaign for the new Animal Bioscience Facility.
Jeff Jacobsen, dean of MSU’s College of Agriculture, said recently at the Southern Agricultural Research Center that the facility is needed to replace the school’s antiquated facilities.
“The facilities we have, they’re bad, they’re not competitive - they suck,” Dr. Jacobsen told a crowd at the experiment station’s field day. “We have to do better.”
