Google Said to Consider Venture Capital Arm

Google, which in its time has ponied up cash for various start-ups, is considering making it official.
The Internet search giant is mulling a move to hang its own venture capital shingle, according to The Wall Street Journal.
David Drummond, Google’s senior vice president of corporate development and chief legal officer, would lead the investment business, The Journal said, adding that Google has hired William Maris, a former Web hosting entrepreneur, to help set up the unit.
