Pelago raises $15 million - Social-network startup wants to expand Whrrl

Pelago http://www.pelago.com has scored $15 million in venture financing, money that the Seattle startup will use to expand its mobile social networking application, Whrrl, in Europe and Asia.
The international expansion comes early in Whrrl's life cycle, as the company has yet to actively promote the service in North America.
It introduced Whrrl -- a mobile city guide of sorts that also allows cell phone users to pinpoint their friends' locations on a map -- in October. Whrrl is still in testing, with the company declining to disclose the number of downloads.
