Microsoft selects Missoula, Montana IT company, Pyron Technologies, to participate in product testing program

Pyron Technologies, Inc. was chosen by Microsoft to participate in the Microsoft Windows Server Rapid Deployment Program (RDP) in the Fall of 2007, and successfully completed the program this spring. The RDP tested the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 product, now launched to the public. Microsoft provided selected customers with technical deployment assistance through selected partners which included services, training, and ongoing technical support. Just forty-five Microsoft partner companies US-wide were invited participated in the program, receiving early training, knowledge and experience on the Windows Server 2008.

Microsoft’s RDP is part of the Technology Adoption Program (TAP), used to test Microsoft products near launch stage in “real life” client environments. The TAP framework provides a consistent experience to test environments engaging in the program by making pre-release software easily accessible to participants, enhancing customer and partner experiences in evaluating and adopting Microsoft technologies, and providing structured product documentation and feedback. As a participant, Pyron Technologies received Microsoft assistance in building a migration plan for customer servers, testing applications, early access to code, 24 x 7 Technical Support, and issue escalation and resolution.

Customer Benefits

Pyron Technologies nominated and were accepted to implement the Microsoft Server 2008 into two customer environments: Fox Valley Orthopaedic Institute of Geneva, Illinois, and the Pyron Technologies headquarters in Missoula, Montana. Pyron Technologies performed the test installations on-site, monitored progress, and documented the process and effects. Microsoft developed and posted case studies on these Windows Server 2008 installations.

Deployment benefits to Fox Valley Orthopaedic Institute include lower total cost of ownership, higher network reliability, and increased server performance. Other benefits and improvements to the institute’s remote network infrastructure, among others, include a 50% network availability increase, 30-40% network throughput increase, 75% remote management costs reduction, 50% server and security performance increase, 25% virus-related incident recuction, and a 50% IT productivity increase.

Deployment benefits to Pyron Technologies include the ability to add hosted domains more quickly, same-day turnaround on new users’ domains and setup, a 25% Help Desk call reduction for application support, 50% network availability increase, 10% IT productivity improvement, and faster responsiveness to customer needs by 40 minutes to one hour.
