Hamilton High School construction class project builds 28th affordable home in Ravalli County

Open the front door of 169 Silverberry St. in Hamilton and you’ll find a finished home waiting for a family thanks to the constructions trade class at Hamilton High School. Students in the class built the home from framing to finishing and it’s now on the market.

While not everyone who can swing a hammer can build a quality house, not everyone who wants a house can afford one either.

The construction trade class at Hamilton High School has addressed both problems with their latest project.

Just a few blocks from school, 11 hammer-swinging boys have become house-building men over the course of the school year. With the help of their instructor, John Mikesell and tutoring from local contractors, the class provided all the manpower to raise four walls and a roof at 169 Silverberry St. in Hamilton.
