Wanted: Engineers in Montana

After graduating from Montana Tech in 1997 with an engineering sciences degree, Pat Sampson stayed behind as fellow classmates moved to bigger cities to earn more cash.
A Tech graduate from Salmon, Idaho, moved to Houston where “his salary was much higher” while Sampson stayed in Butte, where his work contributed to efforts to clean up the Butte Hill.
“I watched the hill turn green,” he said. “When you look at the cost of living, it’s not bad living in a small world.” Now a senior engineer for Pioneer Technical Services in Butte, experienced engineers like Sampson are in higher demand than ever before.
