Montana Department of Commerce Director to Present Over $2.5 Million in Grants to Economic Development Projects in Eastern Montana

Three Day Tour to Big Timber, Columbus, Glendive, Wolf Point & Havre

Montana Department of Commerce Director Anthony Preite will present more than $2.5 million dollars in economic development grants to five projects in eastern Montana. Preite will make stops in Big Timber, Columbus, Glendive, Wolf Point, and Havre during a three day tour of eastern Montana, starting Tuesday, April 8, 2008.

"Montana's on the move and our economy is strong," said Governor Brian Schweitzer. "In 2007 Montana garnered an impressive 4.8 percent in economic growth and I am committed to continuing this growth in every corner of this state."

"The Montana Department of Commerce is at the heart of countless economic development projects," said Director Preite. "We strive to support important projects in eastern Montana, and I welcome the opportunity to travel and see firsthand the progress these projects have made, and the benefits they're bringing to local communities."

Tuesday, April 8

3:00 p.m. @ Sweet Grass County Courthouse, 200 West 1st Street, Big Timber

Director Preite will present $151,493 in funds to Sweet Grass County for the replacement of six bridges in critical condition.

4:30 p.m. @ Stillwater County Courthouse, 400 3rd Avenue North, Columbus

Director Preite will present $407,500 in funds to Stillwater County for the replacement of two bridges in critical condition.

Wednesday, April 9

1:30 p.m. @ Glendive Senior Citizen Center, Sagebrush Alley, 604 E. Grant Avenue, Glendive

Director Preite will present a total of over $1.9 million in funds to Action for Eastern Montana (AEM) for the construction of the new Makoshika Estates senior facility.

4:30 p.m. @ Great Northern Development Corporation, 233 Cascade Street, Wolf Point

Director Preite will present $51,250 in Small Business Development funds to the Great Northern Development Corporation/ Wolf Point Small Business Development Center for direct business assistance.

Thursday, April 10

12:00 p.m. @ The Duck Inn, Antique Duck Room, Havre

Director Preite will present $51,250 in Small Business Development funds to the Bear Paw Development Corporation/ Havre Small Business Development Center for direct business assistance.
