The Phillips County Museum, located in Malta, Montana is the caretaker of the prehistoric and historic past of our region. We preserve and protect not only the physical aspects of the past, but the recollections and embedded belief in the traditions and life styles of our ancestors. We strive to maintain and expand the physical presence of the Phillips County Museum as a viable and respected repository of prehistoric and historic artifacts. We serve the community and region as an educational center for all aspects of our historic past and future. We are a leader and hub for tourism and related activities that promote the overall economic and community growth. We serve as an extensive genealogy research resource for the region.
Member Duties : The VISTAs first priority will be to become familiar with the museum and the local history and research & organize geneology materials. They will also catalog and digitize 10,000 photographs using Past Perfect software, organizing the collection so it is usable to the museum. The VISTA will research and write grants and help with fund raising projects. They will work on marketing for the museum, including developing a web site. The VISTA will assist in the development of educational programs and work on museum displays.
