Wheeler Conference - “Climate Change In Montana: Impacts And Opportunities For Agriculture And Energy”, 5/12-13, Bozeman

March 28, 2008View for printing

This statewide conference, hosted by the Wheeler Center at MSU, will be held on the MSU campus and will focus on the future of our state's agriculture and energy sectors. The conference fee of $45.00 includes three meals.

This policy conference is designed to discover the answers to a number of questions facing our state: if we are entering a period of long-term climatic changes, what will be the impacts on the crops and livestock we currently raise? What changes and new ideas might be considered by the agricultural community? And how might our state's energy resources be impacted? In what directions, and with which technologies, should we focus going forward? Additionally, how do the ag and energy sectors intersect, particularly in the emerging carbon trading arena?

The Wheeler conference will, in a non-partisan and inclusive way, explore all these issues through well-formed panels and knowledgeable speakers. Whitney MacMillan, former President of Cargill, Inc., will provide the evening keynote.

The conference is open to the general public and your participation is encouraged. The conference will be of particular interest to those in the agriculture and energy sectors (traditional and non-tradtional), environmentally- based organizations, the education community, state agencies, climate scientists, current and former legislators, state, city and county officials, and all others who have a role in making Montana's energy and agricultural economies work. Please join us for this very important discussion. Full Information and agenda: http://www.montana.edu/wheeler
