As building's financing is worked out, its occupant fronts preparation costs
General Electric Commercial Finance is so eager to occupy a new building in the Transtech Center that it is footing the bill for the site excavation that is under way.
GE has also begun hiring the first wave of at least 150 employees who will work in the proposed 48,000-square-foot office building, at 3333 Hesper Road.
Details of GE's plans for Billings were discussed Wednesday during a special meeting of the Big Sky Economic Development Authority's board of commissioners. During a 10-minute meeting, the board awarded a financing package submitted by Stockman Bank, which was one of four local banks to submit proposals to help finance the building. GE hopes to occupy the site by Nov. 1.
