When it comes to fighting wildfires, private contractors know they are lucky to land even a short-term contract with the U.S. Forest Service. The agency doesn't just hand out one-year contracts to anybody who asks. Longer contracts are even more rare and indicate a significant amount of confidence in a particular company.
So the fact that Neptune Aviation http://www.neptuneaviation.com/ , a private outfit that flies heavy air tankers to wildfires across the United States, has earned a five-year contract from the Forest Service is a strong indication that the Missoula-based company's comeback is complete.
