Siebel's $9M gift will boost stem cell work at Cal and Stanford

The University of California, Berkeley, and Stanford University will set up a stem cell institute funded by a $9 million gift from the Siebel Foundation http://www.siebelscholars.com/ .
The two schools, rivals on the sports field but partners in many academic efforts, will set up the Siebel Stem Cell Institute, a joint research program. Another $1.5 million gift from the foundation will endow a chair in stem cell research at UC Berkeley.
